Centenary celebrations for Reg Vardy

The Reg Vardy Band is putting the final touches to its centenary celebrations later this month.

The current North of England Area champions, Reg Vardy is putting the final touches to their centenary celebration concert which will takes place later this month.

Most successful

Formerly known as Craghead Colliery and Ever Ready, the current Reg Vardy Band has been one of the most successful contesting outfits in the UK – with a record number of ‘Area’ victories to its name as well as being the current Doctor Martin Entertainment Champions.

Former legends

Former members of the band and past ‘legends’, including cornet player James Shepherd will be taking to the stage with the current line up to play a concert of modern pieces as well as old classics under MD Ray Farr.

The band is steeped in history – from its beginnings as Craghead Colliery Band in 1910 to taking the Ever Ready name in 1968 and now as the Reg Vardy BandRay Hutchinson

Band Chairman Ray Hutchinson told 4BR: "The band is steeped in history – from its beginnings as Craghead Colliery Band in 1910 to taking the Ever Ready name in 1968 and now as the Reg Vardy Band – a sponsorship by Sir Peter Vardy which carries the legacy of his father’s name."
