4BR has been informed of the death of American tuba legend, Harvey Gene Phillips, Distinguished Professor of Music, Emeritus, at Indiana University.

Influenced generations

During his career he influenced generations of tuba players through his own playing, teaching, commissioning of solos and his general influence in music. In the recording studio, alone, he recorded with Igor Stravinsky and John Mellencamp.
