Windcorp set for Swedish defence

Reigning Swedish champions ready for defence of title under the baton of Garry Cutt.

Reigning Swedish National champions, Windcorp Brass will start their preparation for this year's defence of their title this weekend.

Swedish National Championships

The Swedish National Championships take place on the weekend of the 12th/13th November, and the band enjoyed some early preparation when visited by David King just a few months ago.

For the contest the band will be directed by another major winning conductor in Garry Cutt, further cementing a musical relationship that has deepened over the last few years.

This year's set test piece is newly written by the Swedish composer Magnus Hylander and is entitled 'Highlands and Lowlands'4BR

Six Elite bands

There will be six bands competing for the honour of representing Sweden at the 2011 European Championships in Switzerland, with Ă–resund Brass Band participating for the first time.

Bb tuba cadenza

It will certainly be a challenge for the line up of six bands in the Elite Section, as it contains among other things a very challenging Bb tuba cadenza!

Every band in the Elite Section will also perform an own choice programme, whilst Windcopr has been invited to close the contest Gala Concert by performing with star tenor horn player Owen Farr.

Tintwistle Band

April 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a Soprano and front row cornet players to help complete our team.. We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
