The bands who will compete at the 37th Pontins Brass Band Championships at Prestatyn Sands have been confirmed.
58 entries
Fifty eight bands will compete across the five sections which commences with the Fourth Section in the Lunars Bar at 9am on Saturday morning and it has the largest number of entrants of the whole weekend with sixteen bands competing.
Having done battle with Alan Fernie's 'A Caledonian Journey' the attention in the Lunars Bar will then turn to the Third Section where eleven challengers will go head-to-head in Philip Wilby's 'Partita: Postcards from Home'.

Barry's new work in First Section
Darrol Barry's descriptive new work, 'Flamborough Seascapes' will test just eight bands in the First Section which will start at 11am on Saturday morning in the Fun Factory Ballroom.
Liszt and Broughton for Sunday
The Harry and Margaret Mortimer Championships and the Second Section will both commence at 11am on Sunday morning in the Fun Factory Ballroom and Lunars Bar respectively. Fifteen Championship Section bands will be vying for the £3,000 first prize with Bram Gay's transcription of Liszt's 'Les Preludes' which was used at The British Open in 2001 as the set test piece.
Bruce Broughton's engaging work, 'Californian Legend' will feature just eight bands in the Second Section and will be presided over by judges at the recent National finals in Harrogate C. Brian Buckley and Kevin Wadsworth.
Experienced men to judge
On duty to make the all important decisions across the weekend are Major Peter Parkes, Dr Roy Newsome, C. Brian Buckley, Kevin Wadsworth, Roy Sparkes and Paul Holland.
Twenty five grand prize fund
Pontins have put up over twenty five thousand ounds in prize money with all the winners in sections 1-4 each receiving £2,500 with £1,200 for second, £800 for third and £500 for fourth place.
Familiar entertainment
The British Army Brass Band will make a welcome return and perform in concert on the Saturday evening whilst the old favourites, The Bavarian Stompers will once again be on hand to entertain in to the early hours of Sunday morning.
