150 not out for Aldbourne

The Aldbourne Band is celebrating 150 years of playing brass this weekend.

Aldbourne

The Aldbourne Band, which was founded in 1860 continues to celebrate its 150th Anniversary this year.

150 not out

And '150 Not Out' is the title of both their newly released CD and their main celebration concert, which will be held this weekend, where they would like to see as many old faces of the band as possible to help them celebrate their achievement.

Political crisis

Headed by MD David Williams and guest conductor Tom Davoren the band hopes to celebrate their 150 year history — that stretches back to a forgotten political crisis in the nineteenth century — in style.

Today the band is still very active on the concert and contest platform, with the current crop of players drawn from a wide area, although their close association with the village that bears their name, proudly continues.
