The Felling Band has an emerging young talent on their hands in 14 year old Kate Malcolm, who recently took first place in her class at the Durham Brass Band Association’s solo contest at Blackhall.

Playing 'Softly Awakes My Heart', adjudicator Keith Hewson praised Kate’s performance as one of 'outstanding quality and had everything you would expect of a great performer – a beautiful tone, intonation, interpretation and a real connection with the audience. A fantastic performance from a player with a great future'.
