Neish set to blow from both ends

Busy tuba star to appear at both ends of the UK this weekend.

Tuba star Les Neish is set to embark on a mammoth musical weekend appearing at both ends of the UK on consecutive days!

Les will first appear at the Tubalations event on Saturday, in a day of musical celebration for all low-brass players.

Massed blow

Staines SA Band will lead the fund raising event and players from as far as Bolton, Ipswich and Warwick will be arriving at 9.30am ready for the first massed blow.

During the day, the players will be treated to illustrated talks on the 'Alexander Technique' and the various weird and wonderful systems used on vintage euphoniums and tubas.

Les will also lead two masterclasses throughout the day on various aspects of playing before joining forces with the band to perform a varied programme of new music, familiar melodies and dazzling solos.

This is one of many busy weekends which I have coming up in my playing schedule but the traveling is worth it!Les Neish

No rest

There will be no rest though as Les then flies straight to Edinburgh early Sunday morning and will lead a workshop on behalf of the NCBBA in Perth and feature in a concert that night.

He will however have just enough time to catch the last plane home!

Busy weekend

Commenting on what could be a hectic weekend of music making, Les told 4BR: "This is one of many busy weekends which I have coming up in my playing schedule but the traveling is worth it!

"I always enjoy my time up in Scotland and it's always a pleasure to see the thriving Youth scene up there. I'm also sure the Tubalations event will be a wonderful day for all the low brass enthusiasts involved as well!"
