Megaband open up at Abraham Darby

You can see why so many kids fit in at Abraham Darby — because they can enjoy being members of a megaband!

The Abraham Darby Academy Megaband will hold its annual open rehearsal on Saturday 9th October, commencing at 9.15am in the Academy’s Selwyn Theatre.

Parents of primary school children who either plays an instrument or who are interested in commencing musical tuition are invited to attend the event.

We held a similar event last year which attracted quite a number of parents interested to hear the Megaband and how their children fitted inAndrew Roberts

Fit in

The Megaband was formed in January 2005 with the merging of the then Junior Woodwind Ensemble and the Junior Brass Band and is under the direction of Rachel Morton, the Academy’s Head of Music.

Andrew Roberts Chairperson of SMADA told 4BR: "We held a similar event last year which attracted quite a number of parents interested to hear the Megaband and how their children fitted in."

Duel purpose

The open rehearsal serves the dual function of informing the local community of the Saturday Morning Music College and also to be able to recruit new parents to become SMADA members thus ensuring the continuation of the excellent fundraising works which provides further support to all of the bands from the Academy."
