Test piece changes announced

The 2011 4th and 3rd Section Area test pieces have been amended — so make sure your are playing off the right score.

RAH

4BR has been informed that due to the early announcement of the 2011 regional test pieces publishers Kirklees Music have asked the competing bands in Sections 3 & 4 to note that the new versions of their published works must be used at the qualifiers.

Fourth Section

The Fourth Section, 'Prelude, Song & Dance' by John Golland, which was first published in the late 1980's has now been amended with a number of new additions to the score.

Kirklees state that the Music Panel are aware of this and state that this new version must be used at the contests next year.

They also add that if any bands have the original version, Kirklees will part exchange these at a much reduced cost. This must be ordered direct from Kirklees to ensure there are no complications.

Third Section

Meanwhile, the Third Section work, 'A Little Night Music' by Philip Wilby has been modified in collaboration with the composer.

Because of this, the Music Panel state that the new version must also be the one used at the contest.

Once again, Kirklees will exchange the returned music for another revised edition direct with them.
