Euphonium star Steven Mead is currently teaming up with Japan's leading euphonium soloist Shoichiro Hokazono for a four concert tour of the country beginning on September 23rd with a gala concert in Tokyo, following up with concerts in Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Steven told 4BR that the duo have been friends for 20 years and so this, their first tour together, promises to be a memorable event, especially for the many euphonium fans of both players in Japan.
Each concert has virtually sold out and the pair will be joined by a young highly successful tuba player Shinpei Tsugita in a few ensemble works.

World premiere
An upcoming brass band, Flourish Brass, will be featured in the concert in Fukuoka and a number of world premiere performances will take place, including the specially commissioned work which climaxes each concert, 'Three Momentum', by the award winning young Brazilian composer Fernando Deddos.
