Long trek to Harrogate

The Deiniolen Band will be making a 16 mile trek with a difference to help raise funds for their trip to Harrogate next month.

Deiniolen

This weekend members of the Deiniolen Band will undertake a 16-mile sponsored walk, to raise much-needed funds for their trip to represent Wales at the Lower Section finals in Harrogate.

Three out of six

It will be the third time in six years that the North Wales band has made it to the finals and they are hoping that the walk with a difference will reduce the cost of the trip, which they estimate is close to £2,000.

As a result, 15 members will meet up in the Beaumaris bandroom at 10.00am on Saturday, to perform a short piece of music before walking four and a half miles to Menai Bridge and do the same thing at their rehearsal room.

...they are hoping that the walk with a difference will reduce the cost of the trip, which they estimate is close to £2,0004BR

Homeward bound

8 miles later its instruments out at Llanrug, before the 'home leg' and a return to their own bandroom to be greeted by the remaining band and committee members, and perform for the final time on the day!

It is expected that the whole walk will take around six hours to complete, and regular updates and photos will be provided on the Band’s Facebook page.
