The United Co-op Milnrow Band has announced the appointment of David Evans as their new Professional Conductor.
The former Yorkshire Imps and Fairey’s MD, joins following a break from the top flight due to work commitments, and in time for the band's preparations for the Scottish Open later this year.
Wonderful opportunity
Band Manager Frances Thewlis told 4BR: "This is a wonderful opportunity for the band to maintain and strengthen its position in the Championship Section under the direction of an experienced and talented conductor."
They added: "David came down to us in July and immediately enjoyed a rapport with the band. We are delighted that he has accepted the MD position and we are confident that his experience and musicianship will enable the band to take the next steps in its development."
Exciting times ahead
Talking 4BR David said: "I'm delighted to join Milnrow at this exciting time in the band’s development. Due to my career in education I've had to take an enforced break from banding and I'm itching to get back on the contesting podium and have an impact with the band."
He added: "The coming season promises to be an exciting time with the Scottish Open, North West Area and Grand Shield to look forward to, and with this set of players I'm confident the band can move on from strength to strength."

Welsh tribute
David also paid tribute to the Cwmaman Band with whom he has made impromptu appearances with over the past 2 years.
"I extend a warm thanks to all my friends at Cwmaman for allowing me to keep in touch with the banding scene. I remain grateful for them for allowing me to work with the band and have enjoyed making some great friends in the valleys. I wish them the very best for the future."
