Now firmly established in the Saddleworth area, the home of brass bands, Glyn Williams Musical Instruments is pleased to welcome to the workforce a new member of staff.
New appointment
After three years of running the business by himself, Glyn decided it was now time to find someone to help with the workload.
He didn’t have to look too far to find an ideal candidate for the position… as his wife Helen (flugel soloist with Foden’s Band) fitted the bill perfectly!
Experience
Helen has worked for the last four years with Oldham Music Service as a brass (and sometimes woodwind and curriculum!) peripatetic teacher, but originally comes from an administrative background having spent 12 years with the Civil Service. Her administration, organisational skills and knowledge of the brass band movement made her an easy choice as a work colleague for Glyn.
Busy summer
Summer has been busy for the musical duo too, with them managing to fit in a 9 day holiday to Cyprus in July, before enjoying themselves working as tutors on the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain summer course, organising the 4th annual All Star Charity Concert in Tywyn, Gwynedd, and putting together a 10 piece band to appear at York Races for four consecutive days.
They even found time to drive the van of instruments, percussion and uniforms for Foden’s to the Limoges Festival and back allowing the rest of the band to fly out to France.
Hectic few months ahead
The next few months look set to be just as hectic with rehearsals underway at Foden’s for the British Open Championships under Howard Snell.
