Grimethorpe principal cornet player Robert Westacott met his perfect match in Huddersfield earlier this month when he married Claire Hudson.
Sound of brass
Rob and Claire, who plays flugel horn for Hammonds Saltaire, tied the knot at Salendine Nook Baptist Church, accompanied by the sound of brass, with the processional music and hymn accompaniments supplied by a fantastic 10-piece ensemble under the baton of David Evans, as well as Robert’s sister Angela and Ian Porthouse who played solo items during the signing of the register.
Connection
Maintaining the brass band connection, photography throughout the day was supplied by Mark Wilkinson who is a member of the Skelmanthorpe Band, whilst the evening’s entertainment saw both Bride and Groom join forces with the Huddersfield Parpenrifters Bavarian Band to provide some semi authentic bierkeller music for the guests.
We would love would like to thank everyone who were able to be there on the day, and all those who have sent messages of congratulationsMr & Mrs Westacott
Preparing
Now back from their honeymoon and with Rob preparing for the forthcoming British Open and Claire for Hammonds forthcoming CD, Rob told 4BR: "We would love would like to thank everyone who were able to be there on the day, and all those who have sent messages of congratulations.
"A special thanks goes to Huug Steketee and partner Martine, who travelled over from Holland, before travelling back on the overnight ferry to perform a Sunday concert with the Hague Philharmonic Orchestra."
