Bare Trees Community Band is set to make their third appearance at the Schools Prom concert series later this year.
Iconic venue
The junior band to Oldham Band (Lees) will be playing on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall in November under the direction of MD, John Collins, who formed the Bare Trees Band in 1998.
The band also performed at the iconic venue in 2005 and 2007 and this year the invite came after they had performed in the Open Section of the National Music for Youth event in Birmingham.
Great year
2010 has been a great year so far for the band with a runners–up spot at the Tameside Youth Contest and winning a Silver Award at the National Youth Championships in Manchester.
Hard work
John Collins told 4BR: "The hard work and the commitment of the members is amazing and this is a great way for them to gain the recognition they deserve. It’s a great achievement, but the time that the children put in to their performance has brought about the result."

Soloist
Their appearance will also feature a performer who has certainly made her mark this year too, as their talented flugel player Toni Heywood will be featured as their soloist.
Toni will be playing on her new flugel, which she bought with the winnings from her success in the 'future champions' competition sponsored by the Halle Orchestra earlier this year.
