2010 Bolsover Festival

Huge entry for Bolsover Festival of Brass.

Bolsover

Bolsover District Council has announced an overwhelming response to their Bolsover Festival of Brass later this year, with 44 bands set to take part.

This represents over twice as many entrants as last year and three times the entry from 2008.

Overwhelming response

Carole Crompton, Arts Development Officer for Bolsover District Council told 4BR: "There has been an overwhelming response and we are very proud of the achievement. Bolsover District Council recognises that brass bands are very much a part of our heritage and culture and are keen to support the development of the brass band movement in any way they can."

Welcome headache

The success has given the orghanisers something of a welcome headache however.

"After this year’s festival we will have to review where we go from here," Carol added. "It may be that we look to run three venues for the 2011 event so that bands are not disappointed. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the bands who have taken the time to enter the festival and continue to support the festival’s development year on year."

Venues

The First, Un-Registered and Fourth Sections will be held at Pinxton Village Hall, whilst the Third, Second and Championship Sections will be held at the Post Mill Centre, South Normanton.
