Cornet star Roger Webster is heading to the charming Sicilian town of Santa Lucia, close to the Eolie Islands, to spearhead an innovative masterclass for aspiring brass students.
Development
The event has been organised by the M. Randisi Brass Band in Santa Lucia del Mela, through the support of Besson Musical Instruments, and will focus on helping over 40 students with aspects of the development of brass performance techniques.
Having the chance to play with a brilliant musician like Dr. Webster will be a great benefit to us, and surely it will help us to grow in the brass musical fieldGiuseppe D’Amico
English style
The M. Randisi Brass Band is one of the few authentic ‘English style’ brass bands in the entire country, and has been looking forward to welcoming Roger to their home town ever since the event was organised over a year ago.
Great benefit
The band’s Music Director Giuseppe D’Amico told 4BR: "Having the chance to play with a brilliant musician like Dr. Webster will be a great benefit to us, and surely it will help us to grow in the brass musical field. I must thank him, Besson and Fabio Pardo who have been so supportive in helping us put this event on."
Excited
Roger is also excited at the prospect of bringing his experience to help the aspiring performers.
"These are the type of masterclasses I really enjoy, as it helps give players insight into what they are doing, and therefore how they can improve. Over the three days I hope to be able to address all aspects of preparation, practice and performance, and the response so far with well over 40 students taking part, means that I am sure I will be kept busy!"
Guest soloist
The three day series of classes will culminate with Roger showing just what results can be achieved when he will be the guest soloist with the M. Randisi Band under Giuseppe D’ Amico in a concert in the beautiful 600 seat Pace del Mela concert hall in the town.
