The decision by Barnton Silver Band to start a youth group recently has proved a great success.

Four weeks

In just four weeks more than 25 new members have been recruited and have begun lessons with senior band principal players Lynne Cordingley, Gerry Moylan and Mike Miller.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Enthusiasm is high as the youngsters prepare for their first public performance in November."
