The South London Fellowship Band has announced the appointment of Darrell Scholes as its new Associate Conductor.

Tutors

Darrell was taught to play cornet by his father, and with his formative years being spent in Yorkshire, came under the tutelage of the late, great, maestro George Thompson.

Following a move to London, Darrell joined the International Staff Band where he came under the influence of Lt.Colonel Ray Bowes, Colonel Robert Redhead, and Dr Stephen Cobb.

I am delighted to have a fellow Yorkshireman, with such a wealth of experience alongside me as the SLFB enters a new chapter in the band’s historyMajor George Whittingham

Delighted

He has been a member of the Croydon Citadel Band for over twenty years, and has also featured as a guest conductor with the Friary Guildford and Horsham Borough bands.

Major George Whittingham, the founder, and Principal Conductor of the SLFB told 4BR: "I am delighted to have a fellow Yorkshireman, with such a wealth of experience alongside me as the SLFB enters a new chapter in the band’s history."
