Chris Helme’s Sunday afternoon brass band programme 'Sunday Bandstand' — aired at 2.00pm (UK time) based in Halifax, West Yorkshire has been celebrating the brass band life and times of Dr Roy Newsome, who turns 80 on 17th July.

Tribute

The programme aired last Sunday was a one-hour birthday tribute, and if you missed it you can hear it again on the Radio Phoenix FM 96.7 website.

Le Roi d'Y's

The show closes with a nostalgic reprise of Roy and Sun Life Band wining the 1990 British Open Brass Band Championships at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester.
