Silk Brass has taken the opportunity to thank conductor Paul Andrews for all his hard work with the band over the last two months.
Stepped in
Paul stepped in to help them out during one of their busiest periods this year while their resident conductor, Jim Cant has been recovering from illness.
March and cowboy hymn
Paul’s first engagement was at Whit Friday, where Silk Brass picked up best first section and trombone prizes from the seven venues they competed at. Paul was also at the helm at a recent banding marathon, where Silk Brass performed at two hymn and march contests and an evening concert all in one day.
Finally over the last two weekends Paul has found himself down on the farm as the band performed at a concert at a farm turned into a wild west ranch for the evening by one of the band's own tuba players.

Brilliant rapport
Bandmaster, Bob Goodwin told 4BR: "It's been a very hectic couple of months, but the band has turned out some excellent performances and Paul has a brilliant rapport with our audiences. We are immensely grateful to him for all the work he’s put in to help make our early summer engagements such a success."
Harrogate
Silk Brass will now be working towards their performance at the National Finals in Harrogate in September, under the baton of Dave Holling, who steered them to qualification at the Area contest in Blackpool in March.
