Youth launch for Foden's

Brass in Concert champion launches latest youth inspired initiative.

The Foden's Band has announced the official launch of their latest youth inspired initiative — it's 'Salute to Youth' website.

Salute to Youth

A little while ago the band formed a 'Youth Patrons' initiative to compliment their already successful adult scheme, and with the launch of a succesful competition to find a new name for the idea — 'Salute to Youth' was set up.

Social networks

The initiative sees Foden's make use of social network sites — with regular posters on sites such as 'Twitter' and 'Facebook' from which they hope to encourage youngsters to follow the band through the Youth Patron's Scheme.

The web page features articles, photographs, competitions, a shop, 'tips from the top', and other features, and wants youngster to tell them just what they want to see on a brass band site aimed at them.

Foden's is very committed to promoting the development of young players in the brass band movementPrincipal cornet, Mark Wilkinson

Committed

Foden's principal cornet, Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "Foden's is very committed to promoting the development of young players in the brass band movement. We have already implemented a very successful ‘Youth Policy’ which has been running for over 10 years which has seen Foden's players involved in over 50 coaching events."

Safeguards

Mark added: "In developing such initiatives through social network sites we also keep the safety of our young ‘surfers’ at the foremost of our minds and provide links to appropriate specialist sites as well as having a robust Child Protection Policy.
