The Slaithwaite Band has appointed a new MD following the departure of Barry Hudson earlier this year.
Taking over the reins will be Tabby Clegg, only the band’s second female conductor since it formation in 1892. It is the former Yorkshire Co-op principal cornet players second conducting appointment in as many weeks following her acceptance of the same role at Stape Silver.
Wonderful heritage
Tabby told 4BR: "It really is a privilege to be appointed the new MD. The band has a fantastic team of players with a passion for development and it also has a wonderful heritage which it is an honour to be a part of."

Looking forward
Tabby added: "I look forward to taking on the challenge of developing the next chapter of the history books. It is also an exciting personal challenge making the change from playing to conducting as a young female within the brass band movement!"
Fresh approach
Band spokesperson Andrew Booth told 4BR: "After a long and arduous audition process the band are delighted to appoint Tabby Clegg. We are looking forward to working with Tabby and believe she will bring a fresh approach towards the band’s development."
