Following the success of Brass Band Rijnmond in winning the 2010 French Open Championship in Amboise for a third year in a row, the band’s principal cornet payer Dik van Doorn will receive a new commission composed by Simon Kerwin and published by 'Mode for...' as his prize for winning the ‘Best Soloist’ award.

New Zealand premiere

Last year’s prize was won by trombonist Thomas Calleux who received a new work for trombone entitled ‘Vive le Trombone!’, which will be performed later this year by outstanding trombonist David Bremner in New Zealand.
