Flowers Band announce resignation of principal cornet player Chris Howley.

The current West of England Regional champion, Flowers, has announced the resignation of long serving principal cornet player Chris Howley.

Great regret

In a statement from Band Manager Lee Downie, they state: "It is with great regret that Flowers Band announce the resignation of their long serving stalwart on principal cornet Chris Howley."

Chris had recently been asked to fill the vacant flugel seat, but unfortunately felt that he was unable to accept this or any alternative position within the band and resigned with immediate effectFlowers Band

Immediate effect

The statement continued: "Chris had recently been asked to fill the vacant flugel seat, but unfortunately felt that he was unable to accept this or any alternative position within the band and resigned with immediate effect. The band would like to publicly thank Chris for all his hard work and efforts over the past ten years and wish him every success for the future."

Great interest

Band Maanager Lee Downie added: "Since the news broke there has been a great deal of interest in the top seat. The band will also be advertising the vacant position and hope to make an appointment shortly."

Olney Brass

September 26 • Required: Solo Euphonium and Solo Horn. We are a championship section band, newly promoted in 2025. We rehearse in Loughton Milton Keynes on a Tuesday night at 7.45pm until 10pm, with extra rehearsals prior to contests or formal concerts.
