As reported on 4BR recently, the chances of England winning the World Cup in South Africa have been given a musical boost by the plethora of songs being produced by fans all over the country.
Unofficial anthem
However, despite some of them having as much chance of hitting the target as often as Darren Bent, one song seems to have become the 'unofficial' anthem – and it’s the one featuring a brass band!
As reported, ‘Bring it Back to Blighty’, which has the Potters Bar Band proving the accompaniment, has been the one song that seems to hit the right spot in the supporters affections, and after further publicity on the BBC news at 10 it seems it will be the tune on all the English lips come kick off.
We are still hoping for a bit more national coverage, but it seems we could be the 'unofficial' anthem come kick off in less than two weeks timeMo Park
Taken off
We caught up with Mo Park, the driving forces behind the song, and he told 4BR, just how things have taken off.
"Since the news item on 4BR we have appeared on BBC News At 10 to a fantastic response," he said. "They contacted us because the news was dull and depressing that day and they said that people would need a lift. We then broadcast live with the BBC from Wembley before the game against Mexico on Tuesday and we are due to perform again for ‘Look East’ news."
Mo added: "Several press articles have been written about us and the song is being broadcast on several BBC radio stations throughout the South East. We are still hoping for a bit more national coverage, but it seems we could be the 'unofficial' anthem come kick off in less than two weeks time."
