Cawston champions

The Cawston Band was recently crowned Champion Band of East Anglia — the first time in 124 years.

The Cawston Band under their conductor Leigh Sharpe recently secured the title of Champion Band of East Anglia.

First win

At the recent East Anglian BBA Contest Cawston prevailed over their nearest rivals Ipswich & Norwich Co-op by a solitary point to give the band the overall title for the first time in their 124 year history.

In addition to the main award, the band's Steve Clarke retained his trophy as 'Best Euphonium' player.

Successful year

2010 has been a successful year so far for Cawston, with improved contest performances, several well attended concerts and finally the victory at the East Anglian Brass Band Association contest.

The band now look forward to the summer season the highlight being their annual ‘Proms on the Pitch’ concert where once again they will be joined by mezzo soprano Karen Harries.
