Results: Otley Mayors Challenge

Clifton & Lightcliffe take the honours by entertaining the Mayor of Otley.

Clifton & Lightcliffe under musical director John Clay recently swept the board at the Otley Mayors Challenge Entertainment Contest. The contest was held at Otley Methodist Church which was full for the event.

Awards

Clifton's principal cornet player Nick Walker won the 'Best Instrumentalist' award of the Chris Bailey Shield, whilst the band won the Otley Mayors Challenge Trophy.

Three local bands Otley, Emley and Clifton and Lightcliffe took part in the enjoyable event, which was adjudicated by Skelmanthorpe MD, John Roberts. Each band received £100 for taking part.

Perfromance

The winning performance from Clifton included, 'Fanfare and Flourishes', 'The Entertainer', 'Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair' performed by Graham Cass on euphonium and the cornet trio, 'High on a Hill' played by Nick Walker, Mark Crisp and Alex Murray.

Adjudicator John Roberts said it was a well fought contest and the results were difficult to sort.
