Hadstock Silver Band recently secured not one, but two prizes after promotion to the A Section of the East Anglian Brass Band Association Spring Contest in Norwich.
Two prizes
The band gained first prize in the A Section Hymn Tune section and 2nd place in the entertainments section of the contest. Last year Hadstock returned to competition after a 15 year break absence.
To return to a contest promoted to a higher section was achievement enough, but to come away with two prizes was quite literally a dream come trueMD, Lisa Jardine-Wright
Thrilled
Lisa Jardine-Wright, the band's MD was thrilled with the result and told 4BR: "To return to a contest promoted to a higher section was achievement enough, but to come away with two prizes was quite literally a dream come true."
After last year's triple victory the village band continues to thrive. The band's chairman, Andrew Jardine told 4BR: "Last year I said, we hope now that the only way is up. I didn't realise that 'up' would happen so quickly."
Grown
Hadstock was founded over 140 years ago and until last year was unable to enter competitions due to a lack of players. However, by the end of 2008 through the appointment of a new musical director and connections with other local bands Hadstock Silver Band had grown sufficiently to consider contesting once again.
