Jaguar set for English debut

Jaguar (Coventry) is getting ready for a national appearance — but this time at the famous English Music Festival.

Jaguar

The Jaguar (Coventry) Band, under their MD David Lea, will be performing at this year’s English Music Festival at the end of May.

The programme will contain works from the early part of the 20th Century by some of England’s greatest composers including Percy Fletcher’s 'Epic Symphony' and Holst’s 'Moorside Suite'.

First time

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We understand that this is the first time that a brass band has been invited to perform at the event, and everyone involved is understandably excited about representing the movement in a festival which involves such luminaries as the Tippett Quartet and the BBC Concert Orchestra."

Setting

The concert takes place in the beautiful setting of Dorchester Abbey, Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire and will top off an extremely busy May for the band, coming just two weeks after the Grand Shield and a day after the All England Masters International Championship.
