The British Federation of Brass Bands has informed 4BR that they are seeking initial enquiries from member bands to access funds from the Norman Jones Charitable Trust, which they now administer.
Final details of the Trust are now in place, with a fund of £62,500.
Norman Jones Trust Fund
The objects of the Trust are as follows:
"To purchase equipment for the benefit of individual members of member bands and/or the benefit of the member bands from time to time of the BFBB in order to educate individuals and members of the brass band community and/or to facilitate the running of the brass band community and promote the brass band community to its members and the wider public."
We would like bands to contact the BFBB at present with initial enquiries so that it gives us the chance to see how we can administer the fund in the fairest wayNigel Morgan
Enquiries welcome
Initial enquiries of interest are requested from member bands, so that the BFBB can judge the level of demand.
BFBB Treasurer Nigel Morgan told 4BR: "It is envisaged that the Fund will be time finite and official applications will be welcomed from 1st July. We would like bands to contact the BFBB at present with initial enquiries so that it gives us the chance to see how we can administer the fund in the fairest way."
Progressive Awards
Nigel also reminded 4BR that the BFBB is still administering its 'Progressive Band Awards', launched in 2009.
There is currently £3,000 available in individual claims of up to £250 for member bands to help with their projects.
