The Brass Ensemble and its variant siblings from the Band of the RAF Regiment continue to engage in a diverse programme of concerts and high-profile performances.
Over the last year alone it included appearances on BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing', 'Royal Carols: Together at Christmas' on ITV, and 'His Majesty The King's Christmas Broadcast'.
Outreach
In addition to these high profile features they also delivered a wide range of outreach engagements and concerts. That saw the ensemble's Brass Section visiting the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama to give a lunchtime recital that featured a standout performance from AS1 Josh Dickens of 'Belén' for euphonium and brass ensemble.
The concert followed a collaborative brass class alongside conservatoire students, led by RWCMD Head of Brass Roger Argente.
Symphonic and Street
The Symphonic Brass ensemble also performed at the Salvation Army's Regent Hall base in London playing Prokofiev's virtuosic 'Romeo and Juliet', as well as two compositions by RAF Music's own AS1 Alan Thomas.
Alongside this, a new ensemble 'Street Brass' came into their stride, providing pop music to crowds at RAF recruitment events at Exeter Cathedral Green, in schools local the band in Ruislip, and to thousands of spectators at Eastbourne Air Show.
Troms
In addition, the Trombone Section attended the British Trombone Society Day and helped in the 40th anniversary celebrations at Guildhall School where they led an interactive workshop session. The Brass Ensemble has also had special features in Regiment Band concerts including at Dorchester Abbey.

Proud moments
A spokesperson told 4BR: "These are just some of the events and projects we have been part of.
Being invited to accompany the Remembrance Week special on 'Strictly Come Dancing' was a particularly proud moment. It was an honour to represent the Armed Forces and record Sam Fender's 'Remember My Name' for the 'Strictly Pro' dance, especially for such a moving and heartfelt piece.
It was also a very proud occasion when the Brass Dectet played the Royal Carols: Together at Christmas, hosted by HRH The Princess of Wales at Westminster Abbey and broadcast nationally on ITV and His Majesty the King's Christmas Day Message."
Remarkable year
They added: "It has been a remarkable year for the Regiment Band's Brass Ensemble, filled with many memorable moments and inspiring collaborations, and a year that has truly showcased the versatility and breadth of opportunities on offer to Brass players in RAF Music."
