Marsden go mad

Marsden have been going a little bit bonkers as they raise funds for their Grand Shield appearance next month.

Marsden

Marsden Silver Prize Band has been busy over the last month fundraising for their 'Month of May Madness'.

Debuts

May will see the band competing for the first time at the Grand Shield Contest in Blackpool, make their debut at the All England International Masters Contest in Kettering and take to the road to compete at the Whit Friday Contests.

Raising money

Players are having to devote time to extra rehearsals, but with true spirit are also finding the time to raise money for accommodation and travel expenses to Blackpool and Kettering.

Run, run, run

MD Glyn Williams and Eb Bass player Matthew Schofield recently completed an epic sponsored 13 mile run from Marsden's bandroom to Delph and back to raise £1,000, whilst 3rd cornet player Kathleen Coton (ably assisted by her husband, sister, brother-in-law and mum) organised and catered for an Italian evening.

Those attending were treated to a three course meal, an Italian quiz and a bottle auction which raised over £400.
