'British Bandsman' is making the final preparations for its groundbreaking coverage of this year’s European Championships at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, Austria, which it is presenting in association with Yamaha Neo.
Exciting project
Speaking to 4BR, the magazine’s Editor, Kenneth Crookston, commented: "This is arguably the most exciting project we’ve been involved in over recent years and we are looking forward to providing brass band lovers across the globe with high quality sound and pictures from this year’s European."
There’s nothing like actually being there, but this is the next best thingDr Robert Childs, MD, Cory Band
Viewing experience
He added: "I have personally been to the venue in Linz along with our technical experts and I can assure the many viewers who have already signed up for the coverage that everything is in place for a terrific experience.
"In addition, Sheona White, Russell Gray and presenter Simone Rebello have all been in our Wellingborough studio to record master-class segments that will be used throughout the weekend, offering viewers tips from some of the very best performers in banding.
"With a host of great bands from around the continent, and magnificent new music on display, it promises to be a memorable weekend."
Marvellous idea
Dr. Robert Childs, conductor of the defending champions, Cory, is also excited about the project.
"I think that it’s a marvellous idea for the Bandsman to provide worldwide coverage of the Europeans," he said. "Many of our fans have been unable to get tickets as it is a complete sell out, but I understand that some of them are getting together to make a day of it and enjoy the performances on the computer. There’s nothing like actually being there, but this is the next best thing and I expect all the player's mobile phones to be red hot in Linz as our supporters back home let us know how they think we’ve done!"
Innovation
4BR Editor, Iwan Fox also welcomes the new innovation: "We are delighted that British Bandsman is taking live coverage of a major brass event to a new level with this project. The thousands who read our live comments and our 4BR Twitter page will now be able to make their own minds up and see if they agree with us, but with the event being completely sold out, it promises to be a great way to enjoy one of the best banding weekends on the calendar."
