Tongwynlais Temperance Band held an awards night recently with several honours to hand out.

After an immensely successful 2009, there has been further success for the band in 2010, with Band Chairman Gareth Hann telling 4BR: "Although these were all awards for individuals, all band members should be extremely proud of their achievements over the past 12 months."

The 'Performance of the Year' went to Martyn Patterson, the band’s principal euphonium in recognition of his contribution at the National Finals in Harrogate on 'Triumphant Rhapsody', which played a major role in the band winning the title off the number 1 draw.

The 'Bandsman of the Year' award, went to the Band Manager Nick Wills, whilst the 'Player’s Player of the Year' was also picked up by Martyn Patterson, making it a personal double on the night.

The 'Player of the Year' award was won by flugel horn player David James.

Giant strides

Gareth Hann added: "With the band taking giant strides each time we perform, the future looks very bright indeed and one to look forward too."
