Wellington Telford

The Wellington (Telford) Band from Shropshire is celebrating after receiving confirmation that they have been promoted to the First Section from 2011.

Remarkable rise

Their 5th place at the Midlands Area Second Section contest in March saw them achieve promoted at the second attempt, and conforms their quite remarkable rise from the Fourth Section to the First in just five years.

This is a very exciting time for the band who will now get the opportunity to compete at the highest level in their historyMD, Mark Phillips

Exciting times

Musical Director Mark Phillips told 4BR: "This is a very exciting time for the band who will now get the opportunity to compete at the highest level in their history. We have virtually a new band amalgamated over the last few months and the players desereve special credit for performing so well at the areas. For five members of the band it was their first ever contest."

This year will see the band competing at Whit Friday contests and Pontins.
