The Wotton & District Band will be celebrating 100 years of playing on top of a hill overlooking their home village this year, in a concert that has taken place on the first Sunday morning of May since 1910.
Band Sunday
The event was originally known as 'Band Sunday' because it coincided with numerous bands playing out and about in parks, fetes, and open spaces to members of the public.
To mark the occasion, 100 balloons will be launched during this year’s concert and the band will perform a new march called 'Wotton Hill' that has been written for the occasion by local musician Steve Rockey.

Historic local event
Band spokesman Ian Ford told 4BR: "The town and surrounding community are big supporters of their local brass band, so there should be a record crowd of people hiking and gathering on top of the hill for this years centenary event."
