The details for this year's National Youth Championships at the Royal Northern College of Music on Sunday 18th April have been announced.

Co-operative's fourth year

The BFBB is delighted to announce that for the fourth year in a row, The Co-operative will sponsor the event which starts just after 9am and will be completed by 8.30pm.

Increased numbers

This year will see forty one bands competing from around the UK with a number of debutants on show although winners from the Premier Section last year, Camborne Youth are not competing this year.

The Co-operative will sponsor the championships for a fourth consecutive year whilst forty bands will compete throughout the day4BR

Meechan, Peacock and Wilkinson to judge

As is the norm at the event, all sections will have open adjudication and the judges have also been announced. Major Peter Parkes and Sheona White will judge the Premier Section whilst for the first time at the event, Dr Peter Meechan and Mark Peacock will precide over the proceedings. Derek Broadbent, Malcolm Brownbill, Simone Rebello and Mark Wilkinson are the remaining adjudicators who will be in attendance.

Adults £8, 16 and under £4, 11 and under £2.

Chinnor Silver

November 25 • You need to be quick, we are almost full but just require Eb bass and percussion. We are a friendly, welcoming and ambitious band and start 2025 at the top of our second section ranking table. We rehearse on a Wed evening in our own bandroom in Chinnor.


Hathersage Band

November 25 • Hathersage Brass Band is a thriving community band. We enjoy making music and have a good gig schedule. An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our Principal Cornet Ed as co-principal. Are you up for the challenge? This is our only vacancy.


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

November 23 • Bb Cornet, Euphonium, Eb Bass and Percussion required to complete the line-up.. Under the Direction of Duncan Beckley, the band is keen to fill these few remaining seats.
