Hot on the heels of having qualified for Harrogate with the Upper Rhondda Band in the Fourth Section at Swansea last weekend, 10 year old cornet player Charlotte Lewis has enjoyed further success.
Winner
Having been presented with the award as the youngest player taking part at the Welsh Regional Championships at the Brangwyn Hall, Charlotte then went on to successfully defend her 'Treorchy Male Choir Young Musician of the Year' title at Treorchy Comprehensive this week, winning the the competition with her performance of 'Solitaire'.
Charlotte was presented with her award by Welsh celebrity Max Boyce and as part of her prize she will go to London to see the west end show 'Oliver!'4BR
Following her parents
Charlotte, who who attends Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Ynyswen is following her parents into banding life — as her mam, Andrea, played cornet with Tredegar at the Welsh Area and her Dad, John, played cornet with Parc & Dare at the contest.
Pupils from 22 primary schools took part with heats held in each school and then 2 semi-finals to get to 10 singers and 10 instrumentalists for final.
Euro Disney
Charlotte was presented with her award by Welsh celebrity Max Boyce and as part of her prize she will go to London to see the west end show 'Oliver!', as well as winning a trophy, £200 and paid trip to Euro Disney and a guest solo spot with the Parc & Dare Band at a forthcoming concert!
