Death of Ron Sudworth

The death has been announced of Ron Sudworth.

The Oxfordshire and District Brass Band Association has announced the death their President, Ron Sudworth, who passed away in the early hours of 11th March after a long illness.

Tireless worker

Ron worked tirelessly for the Association and for brass bands in the Oxford area and beyond. He was an inspiration to so many.

Following his National Service as a military musician, Ron came to Oxford and joined the Morris Motors band. He was also a member of the Harry Mortimer Men of Brass band.

Musical Director

From the formation of the Kennington (Oxford) Band in 1973, Ron was their Musical Director and his love of banding was with him to the end.

Our sympathy goes to his widow Barbara, daughter Lynne, sons Martin and Nick and to all his family.

The funeral arrangements have been confirmed as service at 3.00pm at the Oxford Crematorium, Bayswater Road, Oxford, on Monday 22nd March.

Following the service there will be an opportunity for a band to play in the crematorium grounds.

Anyone wishing to do so will be welcome. Please bring a copy of the march 'Punchinello'.

Could the names of all intending players please be forwarded to Mr Clifford Sadler, 2 Marsh Close, Yarnton, Oxford. — telephone. 01865 373554, or email cliff.sadler@btinternet.com

All are invited afterwards, to join Barbara and family at the Cowley Conservative Club, between Towns Road, Cowley, Oxford.

Family flowers — donations to the British Heart Foundation or The Prostate Cancer Charity to the Funeral Director, R.L. Bromley and Son, 1 Courtland Road, Rose Hill, Oxford OX4 4HZ.
