Four judges announced for Yorkshire

Four budding young judges will be making their adjudication debuts at the Yorkshire Regional Championships in Bradford.

St Georges Hall

The four teenagers who will make up the Youth Adjudication Panel for the Fourth Section contest at the Yorkshire Regional Championships have been announced.

Aspiring

For the third successive year, the Yorkshire Regional Committee will work in partnership with 4BR and British Bandsman magazine to enable four aspiring judges the opportunity to test their adjudicating skills at the contest.

Delighted

Stuart Warriner of the Yorkshire Regional Committee told 4BR: "We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity once again, and the interest in the initiative shows that youngsters want to learn more about how adjudicators go about making their decisions."

Jack Capstaff (16), Alastair Field (16), Alex Crisp (14) and Sam Myers (13) will test their adjudication skills on Philip Sparke’s ‘Saint-Saens Variations’.

Unlike Philip and Steve, the four youngsters will be sat in the open to give their written opinions.

Progressive

4BR Editor, Iwan Fox said: "It’s great to be involved once again with what has been a very progressive initiative. It’s a great opportunity for the youngsters, and if the last two years are anything to go by, they seem to be better at it than quite a few of the so called expert journalists!"

Insight

The quartet will meet up with Philip and fellow adjudicator Steve Pritchard-Jones before the contest. Both judges will talk about the piece and what they will be looking out for from the 12 competing bands on the Sunday as well as offering invaluable insights and advice to help them on the day.
