Danford to premiere Nimbus work

Percussion star to give world premiere of Lucy Pankhurst work.

Danford

Percussion soloist Dave Danford will be performing the world premiere of a new work by 4BR ‘Newcomer of the Year’ Lucy Pankhurst.

Nimbus

The new work, 'Nimbus', is written for alto saxophone, marimba and piano. It was commissioned last year by Joel Garthwaite, a member of the award-winning Lunar Saxophone Quartet.

Dave and Joel have been performing as a duo since 2004, regularly commissioning new pieces for saxophone and percussion. Nicola Rose, Dave’s regular accompanist since 2005, will join them for the premiere.

The programme also features two pieces by Andrew Keeling. ‘Maximon’ for soprano saxophone and marimba (commissioned in 2007) and ‘Train.Island.Train’ for marimba and piano (commissioned in 2009).
