Following the recent announcement made on 4BR that Tameside Metropolitan Council was to withdraw its sponsorship of the British Open Solo & Quartet Championships, it has now been revealed that they will in fact be supporting the event which will take place on Sunday 7th November at Dukinfield Town Hall.
Time for review
The initial announcement allowed the council time to review other possible alternatives and maintain their active role in supporting the event for at least another year, despite the strict financial constraints facing the local authority as a whole.
High quality
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The British Open Solo & Quartet Championships are just a small part of the overall music programme that has been developed by Tameside over the years. This includes the several annual brass band competitions, 'Splendid Weekend' and a series of high quality, affordable music concerts."
