Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band has announced several new signings ahead of their challenge for the Midlands area Contest.
Quality signings
Tracey Roker has joined on flugel from the Matlock, whilst Vic Eyre, formerly of Newstead Brass has filled the long vacant soprano chair.
Karen Varley has been enticed out of retirement to join the cornet section and Janine Wightman joins the bass section. There are several other new signings in the pipeline to be announced shortly.
No mistake
MD Keith Buxton told 4BR: "Make no mistake these are four quality players and I think that it is fantastic that were are attracting this calibre of people. They all bring a wealth of experience to the band and I hope they will all remain with the band for many years to come."
