New Year's reminder from the BFBB

There are youth band discounts on offer from the BFBB — and awards to be won!

BFBB

The BFBB has informed 4BR that Youth Band membership of the organisation is discounted by 50% for 2010.

Membership entitles youth bands to a range of benefits including unlimited CRB checks and a highly competitive insurance scheme.

Progressive Awards

Bands may also apply for a 'Progressive Band Award' of up to £250 to help support and develop their organisation.

The latest band to benefit from such an award is Blockley Brass Band based in the North Cotswolds.

This non-contesting village band has been in existence for over 100 years and was delighted to receive £200 from the BFBB to fund a training workshop.

The Award scheme was another bonus. It was a very straightforward application process and allowed us to put on an enjoyable event for everyone who attendedBlockley Brass

Success

Band secretary Rachel Galt told 4BR: "This is the fourth training day that we have organised and we invited members of other local bands to attend too. It was a great success and the funding paid a quartet of professional tutors to come along and put the sections through their paces."

Bonus

Since Blockley Band joined the BFBB they have accessed a number of the member services on offer, including the insurance scheme and guidance on various policies.

Rachel added: "The Award scheme was another bonus. It was a very straightforward application process and allowed us to put on an enjoyable event for everyone who attended."
