The adjudicators for the second round and Grand Final of the Radio 2 'Young Brass Soloist Competition' have been announced as London Symphony Orchestra joint principal trumpet player Philip Cobb and conductor Richard Evans.
Second Stage
The seven young instrumentalists who have made it through to the second stage of the competition range in age from 14 to 20 and include two french horn players as well as performers on cornet, tenor horn, trombone, trumpet, flugel horn and euphonium.
Qualifiers
The qualifiers that will battle it out are: Zoe Hancock (18) from St. Austell; Patrick Kenny (20) from Edinburgh; David Moore (20) from Manchester; Vicki Reynolds (19) from Nuneaton; Matthew White (19) from Westhoughton; Jonathan Bates (14) from Huddersfield and Benjamin Richeton (20) from Salford.

Manchester venue
The second stage of the competition will take place at the BBC’s Manchester studios where the contestants will be accompanied by Foden’s Band.
Final
The four chosen finalists will play for the title at The Royal Northern College of Music on Saturday 20th February accompanied by Black Dyke Band.
The event will be presented by Radio 2’s Frank Renton and will be broadcast on Radio 2 on Friday 26th February.
Prizes
The two performance prizes give the winner the unique opportunity to play with the BBC Concert Orchestra on Radio 2’s flagship live music programme 'Friday Night is Music Night', and to play as soloist with a championship band at a prestigious event.
