Fife Youth prepare for Scottish Open

Mark Bousie has been putting the final touches to the next generation of perfomers of Fife Youth — all in time for the Scottish Open.

Th Fife Youth:Next Generation Band has just finished an intensive weekend of rehearsals in preparation for the Scottish Open Youth Contest in Perth on Sunday.

Taking the helm

Euphonium star Mark Bousie was leading the rehearsals and will be taking the helm for the Senior band at the contest, whilst the ounger band in the Novice Section will be led by Charlie Farren, bass trombone with Co-operative Funeralcare Band.

Secretary Alison Hall told 4BR: "With a lot of music to be rehearsed it was an exciting and challenging weekend for all involved. They were all worked very hard by conductors Mark and Charlie, and also sectional tutors James Chamberlain, Mark Boyd, Sarah Naish and Nicky McLaughlin."

On the Sunday afternoon there was a short concert featuring the FY:NG bands and also Dunfermline Youth Brass and Kingdom Brass Youth who were also showcasing their programme for the contest.
