4BR has been informed that Alan Morrison is set to return to Brighouse & Rastrick as Musical Director with immediate effect.

The former principal cornet and professional conductor will return to work alongside David King and Richard Evans.

Part company

Although no official announcement has yet been made, 4BR understands that the decision to part company with Phillip McCann was taken last week after it came apparent that the partnership would not work on a long term basis.

It appears that direction has come to a startling halt following a meeting on Monday 19th October, four rehearsals and one concert4BR

Didn't work out

A source told 4BR: "It just didn’t work out as we hoped. Sometimes the chemistry is there, sometimes it isn’t, and it soon became apparent that it wasn’t going to work for the band."

Better band trainer

The former Black Dyke principal cornet and MD of Fodens and Sellers had been brought to work with the band less than a month ago.

Then, Brighouse President Paul Beaumont declared in British Bandsman magazine that; "…I cannot think of a better band trainer or a safer pair of hands to entrust our future direction."

He also added that, "I’m looking forward to great things from the B&R ‘Dream Team’ next year."

It appears that direction has come to a startling halt following a meeting on Monday 19th October, four rehearsals and one concert.

At present both Alan Morrison and Phillip McCann were unavailable to comment.
