The Brighouse based Yorkshire Co-op Brass Band has announced details of a new community Training Brass Band which they hope to launch in January 2010.
Open
The Training Band will be open to players of any age and is part of the band's continued work to encourage new players to brass banding.
The Training Band is being launched in conjunction with the opening of a new 'Mode for....' Music Academy.
Owned by Simon Kerwin and Tabby Clegg (MD and band manager of the Yorkshire Co-op Band), 'Mode for....' is a sheet music publisher and company specialising in music education.
Each Academy is being set-up in conjunction with an existing community brass or concert band or in an area where a new band can be startedTabby Clegg
Global
The new Brighouse 'Mode for....Music Academy' will be the first of what they envisage will be many academies of its kind launched globally.
Fun ethos
"The ethos is to make music fun, offering the learning of brass, percussion and eventually woodwind instruments at incredibly cost effective prices, but with a particular slant towards improving and strengthening community music links," said Tabby Clegg.
Tabby added: "Each Academy is being set-up in conjunction with an existing community brass or concert band or in an area where a new band can be started.
Experts
"The concept being that music tuition is provided by expert music teachers for musicians of all ages and standards and then these students are offered the opportunity to play in the local associated band free of charge."
The first 'Mode for....Academy' will be set up in Brighouse in association with the Yorkshire Co-op Brass Band.
