Start of brass band STORM

Simon Dobson sets the ball rolling with STORM Brass.

STORM

On a warm, sunny evening STORM Brass held its inaugural rehearsal at Stover School.

New band

MD Simon Dobson put the new band to the test by practising the march 'The Cossack', the test piece 'The Essence of Time' and his own 'Showstoppa'.

The rehearsal facilities at the private school, which is set in 60 acres of beautiful Devon countryside, were superb. The band is rehearsing in a purpose built music facility with both ample space for the band and a number of visitors and the acoustics were described by Simon as "excellent".

STORM Brass has proven that there has been a latent demand for a top level band in Devon and has also demonstrated that STORM has the potential to achieve that objective and has a very bright future in front of itSimon Dobson

Objective

Simon told 4BR: "STORM Brass has proven that there has been a latent demand for a top level band in Devon and has also demonstrated that STORM has the potential to achieve that objective and has a very bright future in front of it."

Band Manager Ken Cassidy took some time out to thank both the players for making the band become a reality and the members of the executive for all their hard work in getting the band off the ground.
